TO-DO List

New website
The current onefte.com website is as ugly as it is slow. The new site will:

  • be a lot faster and a lot prettier,
  • be WAY easier to search,
  • make sharing easier,
  • have ranking (and thus popular search options),
  • have some cool printing options (higher-res larger prints),
  • a spot of merchandise (who wouldn’t want a #7733 t-shirt?) for #onefte chic,
  • easy (and very affordable) licensing for corporate/professional use, and
  • some secret other stuff.

I’m also toying with the idea of site sponsorship. E-bay, anyone?

Going mobile
Of course there should be a 1.00 FTE iPhone and Android app … and there will be!  The trick here will be to offer an app that does more than present the comic.  There’s a few ideas in play, but if you have one, I’d be keen to hear it.

Remastering old 1.00 FTE comics
I’ll be continuing to work through the back catalogue of comics and updating them to the current format, and possibly the content too if it sucks.

Bloggedy-blog
This year I plan on trying a little blogging in the normal way. You know, with words. Whether that’s on my own new blog or a series of guest posts (if folks will have me), or a bit of both, is still undecided.

Moving pictures
What would a 1.00 FTE youtube channel have to offer? I’m not really sure yet, but I’m looking into it.  It might be fun to get a few like-minded folk around a bar to talk through some of the topics covered in the comics.

The Book
Yes, there is a book in the works. No, I can’t tell you much about it yet. Yes I want to. No, I still can’t.

The Gallery
I put a call out once for people to send me photos of where they’ve got the comics stuck up at work.  I got some great ones, but (too late) realised I don’t have anywhere to post them.  I also have a few other pics from meet-n-greets that don’t have a home.  I need a gallery, and I’m going to get one, dammit.

In the Wild
The comics have featured on dozens of blogs, websites and even e-books. I’m planning on putting all the links to them on a page somewhere.  Might be handy, don’t you think?

Participation
There’s a neglected #onefte facebook page. Oh, and a google plus one too. And unanswered blog comments. And emails. In short, I suck. I plan to remedy this, honest.

More
There’s always more. :)   I’ll add things here as I think of them.

WOW. Alright…so when do we get all this? :P

    1. Your Contact link appears to be broken.
    2. The very large Australian organisation where I work has an internal team called “Collaborative Solutioning”. I shit you not. Please make a cartoon about this!

Nah, there’s nothing wrong with your Contact link. It was spawning mailto: windows on a monitor that was switched to another computer. My bad!

      • stuart

The fact I’m still using mailto: windows is a little bit broken. That’s what I thought you meant. :)

    @onefte: odesk.com my friend.

    • stuart

      Still takes time.

A onefte desk calendar would make the perfect Christmas gift. I’ll just need to check the receivers IQ first.

It might be a good test on it’s own. :)

Love the site. Are you taking donations (monetary or otherwise) towards this list? If monetary, how can I send you some? If otherwise, what exactly are you looking for?

Any chance of fixing the RSS feed to contain more then just the latest comic while you’re at it?

I notice your site is always down when you post a new comic, presumably because the RSS feed directs everyone here at once. Perhaps there’s a way to stagger the broadcast of the new cartoon across time, to reduce the strain on the trained hamster in the server room? Alternatively, I just opened the most recent comic, a 34Kb PNG, and saved a copy in 8-bit colour, and it was 14Kb. Perhaps it would save you some bandwidth to save each new comic as 8-bit and then optionally replace it with the better quality image (not that I can see a difference…) after a day or two.
