This comic was inspired by a short post on the Culture is Everything blog by Tristan White.
“common sense” should be the only policy
Same goes for a lot of laws. We dont need new laws we just need the existing ones properly executed.
How does acting offensively relate to performance management?
Isn’t the point of policy to clarify what is (in the context of the business) dangerous, dishonest or offensive? Doesn’t policy clarify expectations? I would prefer that my organization write down its expectations of me regarding work attire rather than have it at the variable application of the supervisors? My organization (for example) is clear about standards of dress: ‘though shalt not bring the service into disrepute.’ Clear but not prescriptive. Underwear or its lack is thus only relevant if discussed or revealed.
Why do I get the impression that performance management can generally be translated with “fire the douchebag” in your comic?
