What do their tattoos say? It looks like one is “Clarity” but I don’t have the slightest idea what the other might say.
Nice pickup. It was a deliberately unreadable font. The other says SImplicity.
I found this one particularly interesting. I’m a software developer, so this comes up a lot between my boss and me. (It’s a small company, otherwise there would probably be someone between us whose only job was to translate.)
Keep up the good work!
A friend recently told me that he was working in the launch of a major IT overhaul in collaboration with an offshore company.
He spent weeks figuring out what this ominous “PANDA system” which everyone was referring to was. It was be the place where all the complex business logic would be implemented.
Figured out that it was the “Partner system” … but nobody realized that the guy with the strong chinese accent claiming “Our panda system does this” was just weasling out.
So, everyone was stating that business logic would be provided by PANDA. Including the project managers.
Moral: Know not only the lingo, but also what it means
I seem to be in the minority on this (at least in large companies), but I maintain that if you don’t know what it means, you don’t actually know the lingo.
