    Had we statisticians a few centuries ago they would no doubt have pointed out that the way to the top was to beat the sh!t out of those beneath you and be as sycophantic as you could to those above. Also, maybe murder a few competitors, such as your cousin. We’ve come a long way since then, but there’s a way to go yet. In the meantime, one can choose to be nice or nasty, presumably just as they did in the Dark Ages.
